Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. - Psalms 30:5
I often daydream about the Rocky Mountains that have captured my heart ever since I was a young girl. I think about those lofty peaks that pierce the clouds and are often capped in snow. There, high above the treeline, the air is so thin it makes lungs ache to breathe. Winters at that elevation are grueling and even summertime winds are relentless and harsh. Little grows in the tundra, unable to withstand such severe conditions. Yet, every spring, when the snow begins to shrink and ice gives way to the warm beams of the sun, an incredible spectacle begins to unfold. Tiny yellow blossoms emerge through the melt, revealing the splendor of the Snow Buttercup, a bright alpine wildflower—the first to announce the arrival of spring and the celebration of another winter successfully weathered.
If you’re experiencing a winter that is particularly cold and unyielding—whether literally or figuratively—remember that there is a rhythm to life and that seasons do change. God is with you as you weather your challenges. He has comfort, encouragement and strength for you as you look to Him in prayer and in His word. Be patient and steadfast as you rest in His care. And watch for signs of spring. There is new life waiting to blossom just under the surface of the snow.
CLOSING PRAYER
Father God, I place myself in Your complete care, asking for hope and resilience during this time. Give me the strength to be patient and the perspective to be watchful as I wait for change to come. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
