“The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign Lord, “when I will send a famine through the land—not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord.” - Amos 8:11
Recently, some health issues have led me to start an autoimmune protocol diet which, for the first 30 days, is an elimination-style way of eating designed to identify foods that may aggravate autoimmune symptoms. The program emphasizes nutrient-dense, minimally processed foods and, for that first month, the lineup of eliminated foods is longer than Santa's Naughty 'n Nice list including all grains, legumes, dairy, eggs, nuts, coffee, alcohol, processed foods and, of course, refined sugar!
Though I am light years away from experiencing what true hunger is, after 30 days into this process without a single kernel of popcorn, I have certainly gained a deeper awareness of what it means to hunger for something.
Right now our world is hungry for Truth—starving for what is genuine and stands the test of time. We are drowning globally in a sea of contradictory messages like never before while Truth becomes more elusive as we can no longer believe all we see or hear. People are tired of empty rhetoric and words that crumble without supportive actions beneath them. The world needs the authenticity of God’s Word—the bedrock of the Bible. The world needs Jesus and the open invitation of the Gospel.
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS
If we are truly followers of Jesus, we should be beacons of the Truth, demonstrating what we believe by our actions and the words we speak. We should be ready at a moment’s notice—never caught off-guard—to gladly offer a bounty of God’s Truth to any hungry soul with an outstretched hand. Let’s bring lasting nourishment to our starving world.
