Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things which you have not known. -
Jeremiah 33:3
When my kids or grandkids call me, I answer—no matter the time, place or circumstances. My only exception is when I don’t hear my phone, usually because I have the sound shut off from the night before. But I want to connect with my kids. I want to hear their voices. I want to know what's on their minds. Whether they have a question or a need—whether they want to share or simply want to vent—whether they’re looking for a listening ear or an encouraging word, I want to provide it for them. I am passionate about my family—every one of them! And I'm certainly not unique in this. Most parents feel the same way and grab their phones quickly at the first sign of a call from one of their kids. Our children are part of our beating hearts and we love them beyond words. We are always here for them. And we mean it.
If parents—ordinary people just doing the best they can—answer the calls from their kids, how much more does God answer the calls from His beloved children? Our perfect Father in heaven answers our every call—without missing a single one. He listens, empathizes, and understands us more than we do ourselves. God should be on speed-dial in our thoughts and conversations with Him throughout each and every day. No one cares more about us. No one is a better mentor, a better guide or a more compassionate listener than God. And no one is more equipped to handle everything coming at us in life. God is always the best call to make.
CLOSING PRAYER
Father God, thank You for answering our every call, leaning into our every need and concern, and not only hearing our prayers but working on our behalf in response. How blessed we are to be loved by You! Draw us close and help us to call on You more and more. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
