When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers— the moon and the stars you set in place—what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? - Psalm 8:3-4
Take a moment to think about the vast nature of God and your head may begin to spin. You only have to look up at a dark sky on a clear night with a dazzling multitude of stars and the billions of miles that make up space to realize just how immense our Creator is and how far-reaching the scope of His power. And, in addition to His power and creativity, to think about His omnipresence, His justness, His compassion, love and sacrifice for people undeserving like us is simply beyond our comprehension! The fact that God is eternal—without any beginning or end—without limitations of time or space—is also utterly amazing. God is with us in our present time, but He is no stranger to all that is yet to come. In fact, what He has promised for our future, in God’s realm, has already been fulfilled.
We only have an inkling of the complexity and greatness of our God. Thankfully, we don’t have to understand His completeness with our limited, human minds. It’s enough to grasp what has been revealed to us through His Word and to rest with confidence in the promise that this infinite God of the universe wildly and inexplicably loves our small, finite selves.
CLOSING PRAYER
Gracious Father, You are the Almighty, Sovereign and eternal God—the alpha and omega. Although I can’t begin to appreciate the magnitude of Your greatness, I worship You with awe and adoration and thank you for bending low to love even me.
