My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. - John 10:27
Although I gave my heart to Jesus at a very young age, it was during my Junior High years that I first recognized God’s hand moving in my life. I remember waking up exactly one minute before my alarm was to go off on the morning of my confirmation—something that had never before happened. That morning it felt like God Himself tapped me on the shoulder to begin the day I would publicly declare my faith in Him.
The service went off without a hitch. I stood among classmates reciting scripture and answering questions about my beliefs—nervous to be in front of so many, but resolved in my faith. Afterwards, as I stepped outside on that cloudy day, the sky lit up with sunshine, as if God was putting His warm arms around me in celebration.
For many people, it’s not unusual to wake before an alarm. And the sun shone on lots of folks the day I was confirmed. But I knew in my heart that God was using those things to speak to me in a special way that day. God is consistently moving in our lives and the good things we experience are blessings from Him, carefully positioned for our enjoyment. So when things happen that get our attention and cause us to think of Him—things that others may cast off as mere coincidence—I believe this is the work of the Holy Spirit, revealing God’s presence with us! How is God speaking to you today? Are you watchful? Are you listening?
CLOSING PRAYER
God, thank you for constantly working in our lives. Help us see Your hand moving when You reveal Yourself. And when You do, cause our hearts to soar with thankfulness and praise.
